Let us go back to January 2024. The Chiefs were rallying against the Chargers even though most of their starters were resting.
Easton Stick got sacked by KCC’s Charles Omenihu and with just 4:56 remaining in the first quarter, Mike Edwards scooped the ball and returned a fumble 97 yards. That went on to become the longest scoop and score of the season (and the third-longest in Chiefs history).
“That was a long drive, I’m not going to lie. Charles made a heck of a play,” Edwards said after his side won 13-12. “It was a big play for us and started us off early.”
However, what is Edwards’ most memorable play with the Chiefs? Well, remember their game against the Dolphins at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany?
After cornerback Trent McDuffie forced Dolphins’ Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill behind the line of scrimmage, resulting in a fumble, Edwards picked the ball, but another Miami player got to him in time. So the safety passed the ball to Bryan Cook, who ran with it for 59 yards, giving his team a 21-0 lead before halftime!
