Now the doc, will followed the band on tour, will be shown in Odeon cinemas with all ticket sales going to mental health charities MIND, SAMH and AWARE NI in Payne’s honour.
The late singer was candid about his mental health struggles and substance abuse issues, admitting to having ‘severe suicidal thoughts’ and a heavy drug use during his time in the chart topping band.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Odeon wrote: ‘By popular demand, and in tribute to the late Liam Payne, we’re bringing One Direction: This is Us back to the big screen January 14’. ‘We’ll be donating all ticket profits from this screening to the mental health awareness charities MIND, SAMH and AWARE NI’.
The film was first released in 2013 and directed by Morgan Spurlock, who lost his battle with cancer last year aged 53, and was a huge success grossing a whopping $68 million worldwide.
Odeon described the film as: ‘An intimate all-access look at life on the road for the global music phenomenon. Weaved with stunning live concert footage, this inspiring feature film tells the remarkable story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis’ meteoric rise to fame, from their humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London’s famed O2 Arena’.
