The rapper expertly littered his lyrics with double meanings – a word or phrase that is open to more than one interpretation.
Eminem sets up the verse by using the word ‘essay,’ then spelling out the word ‘rapper’ but he purposely leaves out an extra ‘p’ – spelling it ‘raper.’ But it’s the rapper’s next set up which left fans stunned.
He twists the word ‘essay’ to refer to his friends on the West Coast as ‘ese’ – which is Spanish slang for friend.
The next variation of ‘essay’ becomes ‘SA’ which is a well-known acronym used on the internet to mean sexual assault.
For the final blow, the entire verse culminates in ‘wait, he didn’t spell the word “rapper” and leave out a P, did he?’
The lyric ‘leave out a P, did he?’ doubles as P. Diddy, fans said.
