Author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott saw a drop in her net worth from $38 billion to $30 billion as she sold Amazon stocks worth over $8 billion as per a filing on November 8.
The filing disclosed that Scott sold 11 percent of her Amazon shares on September 30 this year. Scott received a 4% stake in Amazon as a part of her divorce settlement with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Scott is known for her generous philanthropic initiatives so much so that the 400 million Amazon shares that she received as a part of her divorce settlement with Bezos, she has given away two-thirds of that wealth to philanthropy.
Her benevolent nature has ranked her in the US’s top 5 most generous living donors. According to Forbes, she has donated approximately $17.3 billion to non-profit organisations and other humanitarian ventures.
