A wife has been left seriously injured after her husband shot her outside an elementary school in Kansas.
The unnamed woman was shot in the chest during a “domestic dispute” outside of Cessna Elementary School in Wichita, after the couple dropped their children off at around 9:16 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter stated in a News conference.
The husband and wife, who arrived with their kids to the school by a Lyft driver, were seen arguing by witnesses before the suspect shot his wife who then “ran towards the school for help,” Easter stated.
“At the point that our deputy arrived [the victim] had the gun pointing at her head and the deputy took cover.
And then, when the suspect stepped a little bit away from our victim, the deputy shot the suspect,” he said. The man was then taken into custody.
