Breaking News: Matt Damon’s bittersweet reaction to Netflix’s ‘Ripley’ series. See More…
Matt Damon has expressed mixed emotions about the latest adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s novel, Ripley, which premiered on Netflix in April.
Damon starred as Tom Ripley in the 1999 film adaptation, The Talented Mr. Ripley, directed by Anthony Minghella, who passed away 25 years ago.
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Damon shared his thoughts on revisiting the iconic role and watching the new adaptation.
He revealed that it wasn’t easy for him to watch the new series, despite its critical acclaim and Andrew Scott’s “spellbinding” performance as Tom Ripley.
Damon’s emotional response stems from his connection to the original film and its director, Anthony Minghella.
The Good Will Hunting star explained that the new adaptation brought up mixed emotions, making it challenging for him to watch.
“I don’t know,” Matt said. “You know, I associate the one that we did so much with Anthony Minghella, who’s passed away now, that I don’t know.”
