Breaking News: Coco Gauff sets record no woman can match since Monica Seles in 1993 at the Australian Open…see more
And not only has it secured her a place in the quarter-finals of the first Grand Slam of the season, but it has also helped her follow in the footsteps of legendary figure Monica Seles.
As per OptaAce, Gauff has become the youngest player to win her first nine WTA Tour-level matches in consecutive seasons since Seles in 1992-1993.
Seles won four of her nine Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open, with all of her major triumphs remarkably coming in a six-year period from 1990 to 1996. Gauff will be proud of her latest achievement, but at the same time may just get an unwanted flashback to last season.

Gauff did, however, recover to end the season on a high with WTA Finals success, having also won titles in Auckland and Beijing.
