Dia Nash uses pseudonym to be judged apart from famous mom Niecy

Dia Nash did not want to take advantage of her famous mother, Niecy Nash-Betts, to kickstart her career.

In an interview with People Magazine, the 24-year-old actress who costarred with her mother in Monster revealed how she established herself independently from her mother, 54.”I think I used a fake last name,” the Sister Wife Murder star recalled her first audition.

“I want to do this as me,” she said to herself before the audition, to steer clear of any reason to connect her to her Emmy-winning mom.

“After that, I just kept it because my last name just sounds so nice,” Dia said on dropping her pseudonym.

These remarks by the young actress come after her mother told Business Insider that she doesn’t want her three kids, who all work in the same industry, to be called out as nepo babies.

“Most of the time, my kids audition. And they go up against other people,” Nash-Betts told the publication earlier this year in an interview.
