The Kansas City Chiefs have become one of the more established teams in the NFL as of late, one that most can count on being a contending team.

That hasn’t been the outcome this 2025 NFL season, as instead, the Chiefs haven’t dominated like they have in the past. For as great of a head coach as Andy Reid is, it is clear that his time in the NFL may be up.

With Reid’s tactics as a head coach not working like they once used to, it has led to Kansas City having a 5-5 record, and sitting in third in the AFC West. It is becoming clear now more than ever, though, that at the end of the 2025 NFL season, Andy Reid needs to retire.

After being with the Eagles for 14 seasons, Philadelphia went on to move on from Andy Reid after they went 4-12 in his final season in 2012. Over his final seasons, the offense started to struggle, leading to the win-loss record also not being great.

Philadelphia moved on to get a new voice at the head coach spot after Reid’s coaching was starting to grow stale, something that is happening once again with the Chiefs. After having years of dominance with Kansas City, things are starting to fall apart.

In Week 11, when facing the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs lost 22-19, dropping them to 5-5 on the season. While in some instances the play from Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been fantastic, but overall the playcalling isn’t great either, and in some cases looks stale, which falls back on Reid.
