The Eagles will be hoisting the franchise’s second Superbowl banner into the air, as the two NFC East rivals begin the year with a bang.
This won’t be the first time the two storied franchises begin the year facing one another. Almost 25 years ago to the date, on September 3, 2000, the Cowboys and Eagles played in what became known as ‘The Pickle Juice Game’ in Week 1 of the NFL season.
Heading into the game as six-point underdogs, Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid led his team to a massive 41–14 victory in 109-degree heat—130 degrees on the artificial turf—at Texas Stadium.

“We loaded them up last night, before the game and during the game,” Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder said. “We don’t know why it works, but we only had one cramp.”
