Breaking News: Why wasn’t Travis Hunter’s father at the Heisman Trophy ceremony with his mother?…see more
Travis Hunter’s dad says he skipped the Heisman Memorial Trophy ceremony to be present at his son’s more significant life events as the Colorado Buffaloes’ star comes home to win the prize by 214 points.
The 21-year-old wide receiver and cornerback received over 2200 points on Saturday, December 14 to pick up the award in New York City and had a series of people close to him such as his mother, Deion Sanders (head coach) and Shedeur Sanders (teammate) in the audience.
However, his father was not one of them as he said prior to the event that he’s going to watch it from home and values the chance to be at his son’s wedding or when he is inevitably drafted into the NFL.
“I don’t want to go [to the Heisman Trophy ceremony],” Travis Hunter Sr. said as per The Palm Beach Post. “I want to be there when he gets married and when he gets drafted. I’m going to watch this from home.
“I really don’t feel no different because I always know he could win, if he put his mind to win. He’s always had that, since he started playing football when he was four years old.”
